Okay, so she's not technically the Good Witch of the West, but she is a good witch who lives in the west of Oz.
Queen Gloma heard that a witch slayer had arrived in Oz and was on her way to the Winkie Country and hid in the Black Forest.
Everything in the Black Forest is black, so it was interesting drawing these pictures.

I have a story in that one too. I wrote it along with
Gloma is a creation of Rith Plumly Thompson and is (unfortunately) still held in the iron fist of the Baum Family Trust along with a lot of other Oz characters they refuse to release to the public domain.

AAAACTUALLY... Ruth Plumly Thompson's last five Oz books are in public domain. Their copyright was never renewed. Thus, all characters and elements from WISHING HORSE OF OZ, HANDY MANDY IN OZ, SILVER PRINCESS IN OZ, CAPTAIN SALT IN OZ, and OZOPLANING WITH THE WIZARD 0F 0Z are public domain... as are all of Jack Snow's Oz books.
